The firm uses the team approach in its practice, frequently combining the skills and expertise of more than one attorney to represent a client with regard to a particular matter. In most cases, we view litigation as a last resort rather than a first solution to a problem. However, when our clients are involved in litigation, we believe in pursuing the matter with diligence and determination.

Facilities

The firm maintains an extensive law library which includes many general and specialized volumes and treatises relevant to the firm's practice. The firm also subscribes to computerized legal research services and has broadband Internet access. When necessary, the services of specialized research organizations are utilized.

The firm's written work product is produced on an advanced computer network accessing word processing, spreadsheet, database, research, accounting and communications functions. Facsimile transmission, photocopy, conference telephone and electronic mail facilities are available. The firm's offices are located in Anchorage, Alaska, at 1500 West Thirty-Third Avenue, and include comfortable private offices and conference rooms to facilitate the discreet conduct of its clients' affairs.

Fees & Expenses

In almost all cases, the firm bills its clients on an hourly basis for services rendered. In certain cases, other fee arrangements may be made. The hourly rate for attorneys varies from $195 to $275 per hour depending upon the nature and complexity of the matter being handled and the education, training, expertise and experience of the attorneys involved. The billing rate for legal assistants is $125 per hour. Specially negotiated billing rates are available for non-profit, government and insurance clients.

The firm also bills for expenses and costs which it incurs on behalf of its clients, such as filing and service fees, long distance telephone calls, photocopying expenses, courier service, computer research, and travel. These charges are billed at "cost" level.

Bills are submitted on a monthly basis and prompt payment is expected as a condition of continued representation. New clients may be required to deposit a retainer against which the firm will draw until a satisfactory payment history has been established. Each client receives a separate statement for each matter being handled by the firm, setting forth in detail the services rendered and the expenses incurred on behalf of the client during the preceding billing period.

The firm is always willing to answer any questions or discuss any billing statements submitted to a client.
